PRODUCT QUESTIONS
Before your first multilingual event.
Do listeners need an app or account?
No. They open the room link or scan its QR code in a browser, select an audio language and tap to enable playback. They need internet access and a compatible device.
Can the speaker mix languages?
The recognition service supports multilingual speech and automatic language identification. The chosen speaker language acts as a hint, not a restriction. Accuracy can vary with audio quality, accents and context. Our original-audio channel passes mixed speech through unchanged; it does not convert every phrase into one language.
How many languages can I offer?
A room can have one to five selected output languages from the options shown during setup. Each selected output consumes language minutes. ListenAcross has 20 interface languages; interface availability is separate from speech-language availability.
Can attendees talk back by voice?
Not through the listener page. This product distributes one host’s audio to language channels. Hosts can enable private typed questions, which are translated for the team.
Can I run several rooms at once?
You can save up to five room configurations per workspace, but only one session may be open at a time, including paused sessions. End the open session from the workspace or studio before starting another.
Is the service a certified human interpreter?
No. It uses AI recognition and translation. There can be errors and delay. Assess suitability for your event and arrange qualified human interpretation where required.
Are recordings or transcripts kept?
Live session audio is not recorded by the service. Optional custom voice reference uploads are stored separately by Soniox until deletion or expiry; see the privacy notice. Live captions are temporarily buffered. Hosts may enable transcript retention for up to 30 days and optionally share ended-session notes with holders of the room link. Hosts must inform participants and obtain relevant permissions.
What if sound stops?
Check the listener’s playback status, media volume, host microphone, network and whether the session is paused or out of minutes. The iPhone guide explains the indicators. Support is asynchronous email, not an onsite operator or guaranteed 24/7 technician.
