Help a multilingual room follow one speaker.
ListenAcross is built for people gathered around a live speaker. The host supplies microphone audio; attendees choose a supported audio language and follow translated speech and captions on their own devices.
For organisers
Create a room once and reuse its listening link for future events. Each event is a separate session with a language-minute budget. You can save up to five rooms, with one open session per workspace. A paused session must be ended before a different session starts.
For attendees
Open the link, choose an audio language and tap Start listening. Allow sound when prompted. The page distinguishes connection, playback permission and incoming audio. Website display language is independent of the selected audio language. No listener account or app installation is required.
What happens when someone speaks the same language?
If an output language equals the configured speaker language, attendees hear the original microphone audio, with live captions. Other output languages use AI translation and generated speech. Original-language outputs still count toward language-minute usage. A mixed-language phrase on the original-audio channel remains mixed; it is not translated into a single language.
Questions and records
Hosts can enable private questions. Listeners type in their language and the team sees a translation. This is not a two-way voice call or an open microphone for every attendee. Transcript retention is optional, up to 30 days; shared notes require an explicit setting. Live session audio is not recorded by the service. Optional custom voice reference uploads are stored separately by Soniox until deletion or expiry; see the privacy notice.
Check the venue first
Listeners need internet access and a device that can play audio. Headphones help in a shared room. Test the actual Wi-Fi and devices before buying for an important event. Browser background or lock-screen playback can vary. Access caps are not a guarantee of network capacity or latency.
